Coming Soon: The 47th High School House

The 2024-2025 High School House Team

Students from Great Falls High and CMR have officially started building what will become the 47th High School House in Great Falls! NeighborWorks Great Falls (NWGF) and Great Falls Public Schools (GFPS) have partnered since 1997 to make the High School House possible. NWGF supplies the lot, arranges the subcontractors, and finances the construction. GFPS provides the class course to the students. Through this program, the students gain hands-on and real-world construction experience that sets them up for employment after graduation. NWGF then works with a first-time homebuyer in the community to get them purchase-ready for the home. This includes Homebuyer Education and financial counseling.

Sherrie Arey addresses the students

“NeighborWorks Great Falls was established with the goal of offering quality, affordable housing in our community,” said Sherrie Arey, NWGF Executive Director. “The High School House program is a prime example of this mission in action. It not only helps someone achieve first-time homeownership, but also fosters long-term stability for future generations."

The home will be completed in May and showcased during a ribbon cutting and open house event. Not only do the students build the house, but they also decide the interior to include floors, counter tops, paint, and lighting. This year the build site is located at 1305 3rd Ave S, right next to the 46th High School House.

Keith Nelson explaining the importance of the program

“The High School House project not only equips our students with valuable skills and experience, but also instills a sense of pride and accomplishment as they contribute to the community,” said Heather Hoyer, GFPS Superintendent. “This project reflects our commitment to proving students with diverse opportunities that prepare them for future success, whether in higher education or the workforce.”
