NeighborWorks Great Falls utilizes many types of volunteers on a need by need basis. We have a wide range of volunteer opportunities for all ages, skill levels, and interests.
Opportunities include: Owner Built Homes construction, community clean up, fundraising efforts, in-office assistance and more. Owner Built Homes
A program that is always in need of volunteers is the Owner Built Homes program, where 10 families build their homes from the ground up. How far along the families are in the build determines what volunteer opportunities are available. Examples include laying sod, doing interior trim work, or helping with siding and framing. The best part is that no construction experience is needed! NeighborWorks provides technical assistance and will be on site to walk volunteers through the job at hand.
Volunteers just need to bring their own work gloves and a willingness to learn. This is a great opportunity for both individuals or groups looking to give back to the community. For groups of five or more, we ask for at least a two-week notice. Volunteer opportunities at the Owner Built Homes site are offered year-round Monday through Friday 8am -4pm. community Cleanup
Originally known as MApril Cleanup, NeighborWorks CommUNITY Cleanup is an opportunity to collect and dispose of debris around the community. Teams of volunteers are placed at both private and public sites to clean the community as well as assist neighbors in need of outdoor yard work assistance. We ask that all neighbors in Great Falls get involved by cleaning up your own yards and outdoor spaces as well. Before throwing your cleaning debris away, check if they are recyclable – a number of businesses and organizations accept materials to be recycled in Great Falls.

NeighborWorks CommUNITY Cleanup is coming up on April 24-25, and we are now accepting applications for Cleanup Teams! Interested in signing up and/or getting involved? Memorial Christmas Tree Lighting
In 1978, the Community Beautification Association began lighting up Broadwater Overlook Park during the holiday season. While festive, the lights are not only for display. Every year there is a Memorial Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony where the names of those who have passed are read aloud just before turning the lights on for the first time. This event takes place the first Sunday in December at 5:30pm near the Visitors Center. In 2024, the torch passed to NeighborWorks Great Falls. Boy Scout Troop 1014 and NorthWestern Energy are instrumental in helping hang the lights for the community’s enjoyment. The lights are typically taken down in March.
