NeighborWorks Weeks 2026: More Than Walls in Great Falls

Every June, NeighborWorks organizations across the country come together to celebrate NeighborWorks Weeks, a nationally recognized celebration. During this time, NeighborWorks organizations host events that engage the community, showcase their work, and recognize the partnerships that make it possible. This week is more than a series of events. It is an opportunity to raise awareness, strengthen connections, and amplify the collective work of NeighborWorks organizations, residents, and partners. To celebrate, NeighborWorks Great Falls hosted four events.

NWGF kicked off the celebratory weeks with the second class in the Homeownership Success Workshop Series. The course, Home Maintenance Made Simple, was a hands-on workshop that included demonstrations on caulking and patching drywall. It also covered topics such as what can be a do-it-yourself project and when to call a professional.

The next day, walking tours of the downtown murals were offered. Every year, artists from around the world travel to Great Falls to paint murals on downtown walls as part of the mural festival Great Walls, Great Falls (formerly known as ArtsFest Montana). The tour highlighted the newest murals completed in 2025 as well as showcasing surrounding murals from previous years. In total, NWGF was able to provide three of these tours to community members. Of course, it wouldn’t be NeighborWorks Week at NWGF if there wasn’t Neighborhood Impact Tours! These tours offered a comprehensive-but fun!- tour of the impact NWGF has had over the past 46 years. Participants explored a variety of NWGF projects throughout Great Falls- rentals, rehabs, High School Houses, Owner Built Homes, and more. Along the way, a stop was made to tour the most recent High School House. The house marks 48 homes built through this program! The main event during NeighborWorks Weeks was the annual Most Improved Awards. These awards recognize the individuals and businesses that invested time, effort, and funding to make Great Falls a better place. The event was held at the Haute Hive which was a previous award winner in 2021. City Commissioners Shannon Wilson and Joe McKenney were also present to read proclamations for both NeighborWorks Weeks and June being National Homeownership Month.
